Painting. . .somewhat!

Honestly, I know nothing about painting on a canvas. But, I am willing to learn. I lead a Stop & Go kind of life, so the learning is a bit slow--I'm living the life I imagine! Rewarding to see paint ink on a canvas, stir new colors. Artist Lynn Whipple's big idea on painting is that you will most naturally paint 100 bad paintings so get started!

I've got this Coral Garden started (I copy one of my favorite artist because I know very little about painting. Shhh, artist secret). The first coral trees I painted are the reds off to the sides & top, I was just gun-ho coral happy. Later my favorite critic chirped that coral doesn't grow off air (top), oops. . . technical problems already!

From the Scrappy Table:

The black letters are plastic from Tim Holtz, the last I saw plastic was from Heidi Swapp--which I used as much as possible.
Taken from a television add. . .my Stay pages. I am reminded that it's common broken English usage growing up on Maui: "I stay sick." "I stay home yeah?" Oh Prima, 'Say It In Crystals', my colors! And note sweet little 'Plain Chipboard Elements' from Jenni Bowlin. . .
Just found this page I had not put in a scrapbook from years ago. . .coincidently browsing on Hambly Screen Prints site and see there is a call for designers. . .shall I blow off the dust from my Hambly stash and try it for fun?
Luke and I were on the same page re. baseball for so many of his youthful years. I pray I never ever forget.
I have yet to do Kawai pages!

Shellville

C'C'-ones!
Sarah's recent jaunt while hiking southern cali shores, drying in the sunlight.
Great glass bowl made for cones, but not so great at a toddler's eye level. . .

A Little This & That

Just being unconventional. Uh, simply lazy is more like it.
I think one of the best ways to scrap, is to scrap while on vacation of the current vacation. Then you are mostly done. . .journal scrapping.
Doodling power!
Mish mash, critical of this layout (may have to redo).

Happy Birthday Frank, *19*

You are a cornerstone of this family at age 19. We love you.

Summer Layouts

I added a summer drink to take place of ice tea. . .I needed a treat to accompany all the baseball games and practices I am involved in.
The Word on a layout. Little ornaments hanging in the corner, sketching, doodling. Featuring one of my own mermaid stamps.
Sewing pukas on a page! Must do again! I have about ten more pages to share. Trying to find my groove, been a couple of years absent from the table. We'll see, the Scrappy Room is still not quite finished.

Rockin' the Accessories

The Five Wrap delight, L-R: Lacette's multi colored wrap for Sarah, Copper bling (originally my first that I had to restring) and a cobalt blue to wear with denim. Easy to craft & it rocks while wearing!
Sarah has been creating jewelry for sometime now. I pulled out this pearl necklace from Sarah's stash, girls gotta have pearls!
I broke this necklace in on Saturday for the Sade concert. Camay found these pukas off of Kauai's shores this summer. One talented wahine that Camay, it's dainty & what I love the most, a touch of something from nature.

Sade! My Love is King!

My gosh! Sade brings out romance into the sunshine! My fave:

Your love is king,
crown you in my heart .
Your love is king,
never need to part.
Your kisses ring,
round and round and round my head
Touching the very part of me.
It's making my soul sing.
Tearing the very heart of me
I'm crying out for me.

Your love is king,
Crown you in my heart.
Your love is king
You're the ruler of my heart.

I'm coming up, I'm coming
You're making me dance inside.

Suki, 2002-2011

He always wanted to sleep near me, and I loved resting my head into him sideways. Now I feel the empty space in my heart & when I see his favorite spots. . . the bittersweet memories are stirred.
Been too sad to write of losing Suki this past June on a warm night this summer. He wasn't at the backdoor waiting for me as he usually did if he got out the door. I didn't check for Suki for whatever reason to be sure he was in for the night. And we all know the coyotes are looking for prey. Sarah said Suki was our Ninja Cat, he lived by the sword & passed on in the animal kingdom. He had a specialty, fresh Lizard or fresh birds. My front door was always a scene of grossness, it was constantly being used for the ugly deed. I loved this boy from the minute he came home and even now without him about.

Sister Frames

Gifts for Camay. . .pull out the supplies, shuffle the endless stash of shells, search for the perfect piece & play with angles & glue, let thoughts just wander aimlessly. . .it's a way of resting! Scratch one more item from the To Do List.

Shells, More Shells & Bluebirds

I LOVE SUMMER TIME! Find happy places, that's what I say, and here is a moment in time--wind blowing on the shores of Maui, shell picking to hearts content.

My Abalone Story. I was gifted bagfuls of raw abalone from my brother-in-law Gary. He is a consummate diver, and inherited this abalone treasure from his father. Not knowing what to do with it, knowing how kook kooky choo I am. . .in turn has gifted me. His wife, Christa complimented me by saying only I could take a stinky dusty dirty bag of shells and create something beautiful. Joy, joy! {These are abalone pieces which are in raw form, I find the opposite side of the glorious abalone just as beautiful. Hope to get a rock polish drum sometime soon.}
Yesterday at Laguna Beach. . .purple blue--just another take of shells.
Little things. . .I love little blue birdies, blue bird of happiness. I took my trinket holder and touched it up with blue. What makes you happy?

Moraga Visit: Unexpectedly Inspired

Beading never, I mean never appealed to me. . .until. . .The Wrap Bracelet was spied when I was on Maui in May, I don't think I'll ever be the same! And, I have the bracelets and beads to show for it. I think I can craft until I am an old old lady.
If I could learn to bake the Velvet Cupcake. . .it would make me so happy!
Oh, a picture says a thousand words. Beginning with. . .yes please.
Two Sisters, reunited. Lacette and Camay.
